SmartD helps water and wastewater operators keep their critical pumps, blowers, and fans running longer and cleaner. Its Clean Power VFD™ is the first variable frequency drive built on Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFETs to deliver a pure, filterless sine wave to the motor — without the external sine, dV/dt, or harmonic filters that conventional IGBT-based drives require. By controlling motor speed and torque with a true sine wave, it helps reduce the electrical stress, harmonics, voltage spikes, and bearing damage that shorten motor life in demanding municipal applications, and can extend motor life by up to 2x.
Designed for reliability in critical water infrastructure, SmartD's Clean Power VFD simplifies installation — three wires in, three out — and removes the filters that consume panel space and add failure points, for up to 50% less space and roughly 30% lower energy losses than a conventional VFD system. Its Active Front End keeps harmonics below 5% THDi in line with IEEE 519 and supports very long cable runs: at the City of Stratford's water facilities, SmartD drives operate over 1,400 ft of motor cable with THD under 3% and no external filters.
